In-Character Information

Name: Pidge aka Green's Pidgeot
Game/Series: Pokemon
Teacher/Student/Other: Student
Canon Point: post...game...? (at least HG/SS, along with some Smash Academy history)
Age: 18
Grade Level/Class Taught/Job: Freshman
Dorm or Living Arrangement: Dorms please!

Personality:
Pidge is like the quiet, cool-headed blue ranger in a group of power rangers. He tends to fall in the back, observing things go in the back most of the time, trying to be the more disciplined one. Trying is the keyword here, where his lack of patience tends to get him a less favorable situation than he'd like. He's still young but is trying a little too hard to be a grown up, and it sometimes shows.

Calm and collected is what he strives to be most of the time. Years of practice has gotten him to be a lot better at it than when he was younger, where he was an impatient chatterbox. It doesn't mean that all of the personality from the younger days has completely disappeared, though; push the right buttons, and he will revert back to the easily irritable and restless pigeon. Being acquaintances for so long, Char is the best at getting Pidge riled up. There are other cases where he would lose his cool, such as when he is put under a tremendous amount of stress. As much as he'd like to look at things objectively all the time, when he starts stressing out his better judgement is out the window as he jumps to conclusions and makes assumptions. It's his bad habit, and at times it gets the better of him, but he does his best to act otherwise as much as he can. It's just that his teammates make it hard for that to be achieved sometimes.

Pidge prides in himself in how much of a responsible Pokemon he can be. When given tasks and errands, he makes sure they are done promptly and in a speedy manner. At the same time though, it's the most common situations where his hasty nature shows up in the worst timing, especially when things don't go according to how he originally planned before getting to the tasks. On the bright side, he is always enthusiastic of getting even the most mundane tasks! Having any kind of responsibility, no matter how small, gives determination to better himself for this Pidgeot.

His current goals are to keep training and be an asset to the team. Growing up as a competitive battle Pokemon has given him the biggest influence in how he thinks, that being reliable and dependent is a way to show his affection to the trainer he admires. While he tries not to think about it too much, he does have a fear of failing and disappointing Green. The fear of falling from where he had gotten up to in the ladder of experience and responsibilities is what keeps him striving to be better next time.

Rivalry competition has give the most influence on Pidge as he grew up during the journey, in both positive and negative ways. Meeting Red early on while he was still very young and didn't know any better made it difficult to distinguish friendly rivalry from villainous attitude, and at first he took it a little too personal and didn't have a very positive impression towards Red and his team. As they kept encountering each other and through numerous battles and as he grew older, he learned that his first impression was wrong, that it was more of a friendly gesture than anything. It took some time for him to accept this thought, which still shows up with hesitance in interacting with the opposing team. He treats it in a more professional manner now, although this comes off as being a little too serious to others.

To strangers, Pidge may be seen as someone with a strict, rigid and serious personality. It's not that far off, since he would prefer to have a set routine. Daily routine starts with him waking up just before sunrise for his morning flight, taking care of the gym as an unofficial secretary during the day, having an afternoon flight for a small break, and end the day early with wrapping up any loose ends and get a full night's rest. If this flow of the day gets interrupted by unforeseen circumstances he can quickly lose his cool, and in worse cases make the situation even worse. When his bad habits of jumping to conclusions kick in he becomes even less agreeable to any outside inputs, perhaps even as far as being a party-pooper. When one becomes closer to the Pidgeot he may become more relaxed, depending on what kind of personality the opposing party has. Kind-hearted people will have him react with a more pleasant greeting with a small smile, although mean-spirited ones may receive a frown. Being how quiet he is, though, it is difficult for him to open up especially when you are not already familiar with the other members of the team or Green himself.

Backstory:
Pidge does not remember much about his early days in the while as a Pidgey, where he lived close to Green's hometown. All he remembers about being in the wild is flying in the trees and grass, watching a few trainers leave town for their grand adventure. Not much happened around Pallet town. First real memory he has is running into Green and Bulba and getting captured. There was a short-lived tension between Bulba and himself, although at the time Pidge was confused of what the awkward atmosphere was. He was more distracted to see the world outside of the woods that were just outside of Pallet Town. He quickly warmed up to Green and fought off opponents while they traveled, quickly learning new things as they went (like Green's rival Red and his teammates).

When Pidge first met Red, his first impression was that Red was some sort of evil villain out to get Green (as his young self believed then) but as they kept meeting each other during the travels he grew to understand what the concept of rivalry is, a competition to become stronger.

As they traveled, the team grew. Char the grouchy Charmeleon joined, which was around when Pidge evolved into a Pidgeotto. The Charmeleon was a handful, lashing out at Bulba and himself. Impression wasn't good at all, and it frustrated Pidge to the point where he had always snapped at Char, siding with Bulba all the time; the Bulbasaur was the nicest teammate to have, why be so nasty! An Eevee joined the team as well, who quickly turned into a Jolteon. Pidge, being a flying type, had more trouble interacting with Jolt and was more quiet around him. Sometime during the journey to the Elite Four, Pidge evolved into Pidgeot and the group, while keeping with the usual bickering outside of serious battling, grew strong enough to become the Champion. It was one of the most prized memory Pidge has of the journey. The dream was rather short-lived, though, when Red showed up with his team and defeated them.

To keep training, Green picked up on becoming a gym leader at Viridian Gym. Some time later, Green decided to go to Smash Academy. But who would look after the gym, with Green gone? Pidge stepped up to look after the place as Green and the others left for the fighting school. He kept close contact with Bulba as well as Green, getting occasional news of what was going on at the academy while he oversaw the gym and its operations.

He does take off of the gym secretary once, for assisting Green in flying over to Sinnoh. Traveling to a new region has let him relearn the excitement of learning and seeing new things, and this sprouted a curiosity and the urge to visit Smash Academy to see things for himself.

Time pass, and one day Pidge gets offered to take a break from his unofficial secretary work. After some dwelling, he decides to take up on the offer and goes to visit Green and the teammates in Final Destination City. The visit turns into an enrollment when Crazy Hand decides Pidge should be enrolled, and now he is stuck with a responsibility of completing his academic studies.

Brief descriptions of basic interactions with teammates
Green is the admiration and pride of his life. He has been with Green almost his entire lifetime outside of the short time he was a wild Pidgey. He can't think of what other kind of life he would have had without meeting Green, and would say so without pause if he were to be asked that question. Being the first Pokemon Green had caught from the wild, Pidge has seen the largest bulk of Green's journey as a Pokemon trainer, and he's honored to have shared the journey alongside.

He has known Bulba just as much as Green. There has been a short-lived awkward tension between the two in the beginning, of having to share a trainer. But that was a thing of the past. Pidge considers Bulba as an extremely reliable brother and likes to keep personal contact with at all times. Sometimes he goes to Bulba for some ranting or questions he can't answer by himself.

Thinking of Char immediately gets Pidge riled up. As far as he can remember, there was no incident where talking to Char ended peacefully. While Char's temperament had gotten better over the years, Pidge believes it's second nature for Char to purposely ruffle his feathers the wrong way.

Being in the type disadvantage, Pidge has had a lot of trouble getting comfortable around Jolt. Not only the electricity, the energy Jolt always had was something off-putting for Pidge, he has some trouble with knowing how to interact with him.

Nyx is one of the newer members, who joined after Green had left for Smash Academy. The only opinion Pidge has of her is that she's extremely close to how Char is. With how badly his feathers can get ruffled with Char by himself, Pidge tries to avoid seeing the two of them together at all costs, to save his own sanity from getting destroyed.

Brief description of interactions with Red Team
In general, Pidge becomes more quiet and tense than usual around any Red team members. While he understands the rivalry was just for competition and not too personal, the not-so-impressive memories from his younger self makes him stand in a slightly awkward position for himself and thus prevents him from being as friendly as he'd like. He would never be the one to approach any of the opposing team members first unless it is an emergency, but he wouldn't rudely decline being approached either. It's just still very awkward for him to be more friendly and without the "I'M GOING TO BEAT YOU NEXT TIME" attitude anymore.

[Note: I wasn't able to get hold of all the Red Team members to discuss any necessary CR details, but I am open to discussion for any details when necessary!]

In-Character 1st person sample:
Dressing Room sample

Greetings Smash Academy, my name is Pidge, a Pidgeot, and I have joined with the rest of you to better myself in both knowledge as well as in my fighting skills. My trainer is Green, whom you may be acquainted with already. I hope my stay here will be very fruitful.

I do, however, question the morality of one of the headmasters. Do they enforce visitors to be enrolled without their consent? While I'm grateful to have this opportunity, I can't help but feel like I was tricked into this.

In-Character 3rd person sample:
Transforming into a human was never something Pidge never took interest in before, only because it was not a complete necessity back at home. It seemed like things were extremely different in this place, though, where there were countless creatures transformed into humans to effectively communicate with other beings. It was a difficult decision to make for Pidge; having the freedom to fly around in the sky all his life, he couldn't imagine himself unable to do so. He figured he needed to go through a learning process to get accustomed to the human transformation, so he took a few days to himself to learn how the human body worked through books. Having the knowledge and actually experiencing the thing was a complete different matter, though.

The very first time of transforming into a human was horrid. His entire body felt heavy and slow. He panicked from the lack of mobility and the transformation didn't last three minutes. Second time, he struggled of how to use his hands and fingers. While the bone structure might have been similar, it had completely different uses than while he was a bird. He did countless more practice for the past week before he got the basic hang of the human form.

Even with that, though, the irritation of being unable to fly never left. It was pure luck that he was able to keep interactions with Char to a minimum; who knows how much worse things would have been if he had shown up to prod at his nerves.

Pidge gave a heavy sigh as he tossed the pencil he had in his hand onto the table. While he had gotten the hang of carrying things in his hands, writing things onto paper was the most difficult part. It was a delicate process and it put so much strain on his hands while he tried to write.

To think I have picked up the more troublesome method of communication... He couldn't help but laugh as he looked at the chicken scratch writing on the paper before him. But since he had picked this way, he was going to master it no matter how long it took.
